Tautai o le Moana offer five programmes, Tautai Pule, Tapasa, Lalaga Tautua, PLG, and Leadership Appointments. These programmes align with supporting our leaders who want to enrich their skills and knowledge, but also stay connected with values that have been around forever.
Tautai Pule
Led by Helen Varney
Tautai Pule is a professional learning and development pathway ‘by Pasifika principals, for principals of Pasifika learners' focused on changing educational outcomes for Pasifika/Pacific students.
A key element of this pathway is strengthening leadership capabilities by engaging Principals in educational transformation through a process of deep learning, mentoring, coaching, critical conscientisation and collaboration. The emphasis is on change that is sustainable and enduring, with a focus on the goal of Pasifika educational success as Pasifika.
Tapasa
Led by Sepora Mauigoa
Tapasā is designed to help teachers support Pasifika students. It offers easy-to-use tools, helpful resources, and useful information. Tapasā encourages teaching that respects Pasifika cultures and uses data to help everyone succeed.
Tapasā brings Pacific perspectives to affect teaching practice at different stages of a teacher's journey in key areas and transition points.
Lalaga Tautua - Aspiring Principals
Led by Jerry Leaupepe
Lalaga Tautua – Preparing Aspiring Principals for School Leadership.
Lalaga Tautua is a professional learning programme for Deputy and Assistant Principals who are considering principalship. Its purpose is to strengthen participants’
understanding of the principal’s role and provide practical learning about the
responsibilities, challenges and decisions involved in leading a school.
Grounded in Pacific leadership values and perspectives, the programme supports
participants to examine their leadership practice, learn from experienced principals and build the knowledge, confidence and capability required to take their next steps towards principalship.
PGC
Led by Helen Varney and Sepora Mauigoa
Our Professional Growth Cycle (PGC) is designed to empower principals and tumuaki to grow as confident, reflective and effective leaders who can make a meaningful difference for their learners, staff and communities. Through purposeful professional learning, reflection and trusted professional conversations, we support leaders to navigate the complexities of their role while strengthening their leadership practice. Guided by the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand’s professional growth expectations, our PGC supports continual growth while maintaining alignment with the Standards | Ngā Paerewa.
